Good Health Begins with Yearly Wellness Visits
A lot of common illnesses can be avoided by keeping your pets up to date with their preventive care. We recommend annual wellness examinations for all cats and dogs, and more frequent visits for senior pets or those with serious health conditions.
Age- and lifestyle-appropriate vaccines are a must, especially if you plan to board your pets or take them to daycare. Additionally, fleas, ticks, and heartworms are prevalent in our hot, humid climate, so it’s important that your pets are treated on a regular basis for parasites.
Your pet’s annual exam is also the perfect time to ask questions, discuss concerns, and have your pet microchipped. Dr. Hees will suggest bloodwork on a case-by-case basis if an underlying health condition is suspected.
Our Preventive Care Recommendations
From the time your pet is just a puppy or kitten, preventive measures are necessary to help them avoid parasites and contagious diseases. We follow a general schedule for cats and dogs, and we adjust this schedule when necessary to accommodate different ages and risk factors.
